Today I am showing you how to make this mixed media card using inks and clear embossing through the 'Leafy' stencil for a lovely textured border to surround the striking focal tiger image.
TUTORIAL
On a piece of 14x14cm card I stamped the main image from FEARLESS TIGER in onyx black versafine and clear heat embossed using wow! clear embossing powder.
Next using LEAFY stencil I brushed through elements inks in shades of lime punch and pine around the stamped tiger image. After removing the stencil I clear embossed the stencilled area, it didn’t need anything adding to make the embossing powder stick as the ink was still damp.
The next step was to brush elements ink in midnight blue over the stencilled area. Because the leaves are embossed they resist the ink allowing the excess to be wiped away off the shiny leaves with a piece of kitchen paper.
To colour the tiger, I again used elements inks in russet orange and truffle as watercolours, leaving some white spaces and coloured the eyes in a bright green. I then covered the tiger with a piece of kitchen paper and spattered a little white ink using a small brush. I also whitened around the tigers eyes using the same white ink. A little gold gilding polishe was added around the edges and the edges then distressed using a little distressing tool.
I chose a sentiment from the recently released BEST BIRTHDAY EVER stamp set and white embossed this on black card. This was then trimmed & stacked several times to make a chunky tag before being edged using gold posca pen.
The almost complete card was then mounted on black and gold, again I distressed the edges of the gold card before adhering to a 15x15cm card blank.
The sentiment was attached using wet glue, I used glossy accents over the eyes and a few clear acrylic water drops added as finishing touches.
I hope you have enjoyed my inspiration today.
I will be back here on the blog soon with another tutorial.
