Flower Power

Flower Power

A fairly straightforward, colourful card, sure to brighten someone’s day.

I began by stamping the main image from FLOWER POWER in versamark. It is a decent sized background stamp so I used my stamping platform so I could re stamp a couple of times to ensure I got a nice full image.

I then covered in Wow! Bright white embossing powder and heat embossed. This doesn’t show up very much at the moment but the embossed area will act as a resist when I add my ink in the next stage and the magic will happen.

I then added distress oxide inks in 3 complementary shades, using a brayer. As the colour intensified the embossed flower power stamp really began to stand out. I spattered with a few water drops and when that was dry I added a few small splats of my brightest colour. These added a little more interest to the background.

Next stage was to take a piece of white card slightly smaller than my card blank and cut a rectangle aperture using a sizzix die and my die cut machine.

I chose a sentiment from BIRTHDAY WISHES and this was stamped using versafine clair and then heat embossed with a similar colour of wow! Embossing powder.

The next step was to position my flower power background beneath my aperture on the actual card blank, it may need trimming down to fit how you want. When happy with the position I stuck down the background to the card using pva glue. The flowers were then coloured using posca pens.

Finally I adhered the aperture panel over the flowered background using foam pads to raise it up. Finishing touches were glittery stickles on the flowers and a few coloured flat backed pearls.
