Sketched Holly & Sketched Backgrounds

It’s time to hit play on the festive tunes as Christmas crafting gets underway for 2024. These new stamp sets are brilliant especially if you love getting inky! I’m loving the new ‘Sketched Holly’ and ‘Sketched Backgrounds’ stamps and can see them being used a lot for my Christmas cards this year.

For this make, I sprayed a piece of white card with ‘Mowed Lawn’ and ‘Twisted Citron’ distress spray stains. I then blended the same colours of distress ink around the edges of the card. The background was then then splattered with some water to give some interest to the background.

Next up, I stamped the large holly stamp from the ‘Sketched Holly’ set onto the background using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before heat embossing with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder.

I then took the other holly elements from the same set and stamped these around the edge of the background using Versafine Clair ‘Grass Green’ ink (2nd generation). These were coloured in using a green colouring pencil before the ‘Sketched Backgrounds’ stamps were stamped around the main holly image and around the edges of the card using ‘Mowed Lawn’ distress ink.

The main holly image was then stamped again (alongside some berries) onto a separate piece of white card using the same black ink and embossing powder as before. These were then fussy cut out before being coloured in using colouring pencils. The sentiment was then stamped out onto a small piece of white card before being edged with ‘Mowed Lawn’ distress ink and mounted onto some black card.

Finally, the background was put onto black card and a white card blank before the elements and sentiment were added using 3D mounts or 3D glue. Some sparkly gel pen, Ranger glossy accents, gems and sequins were also added for extra sparkle. I do love a bright Christmas card and I’ll definitely be repeating this for more Christmas 2024 makes!
