Calm Over Chaos

Life these days often seems so be hectic and busy, and it can sometimes be hard to remember the benefits of actively choosing calm over chaos, and this weeks project uses a beautiful stamp set that reminds us to do just that.

Tutorial

I began my card by selecting an inky background from my stash that was created with green Distress Ink. Green is such a calming colour that it was the obvious choice.

I stamped and embossed the oriental lady in black in the centre of my card.

To add a layer of interest to the background I then used Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide through the new Painted Grid stencil.

Using a paper masking technique (where I stamped the flowers on a post it note and covered the image I wanted in front before adding the smaller flowers to the side of it) I created a little floral corner border. I also stamped the blossom branch at the top of the page.

I added the text stamp randomly, stamped in green.

Using a white pearl watercolour paint I coloured the kimono and flowers.

To complete the card I gave my lady a little parasol which I created by inking through the Art Spheres#2 stencil and die cutting and finishing with a small gem in the centre. I made a handle and adhered across her shoulder.

To finish I layered on black card and added the sentiment.
