Sparkling Rain
Welcome to my Design Team post for this week where I’m using Art Spheres 2 stencils together with Sparkle In The Rain stamp set. My inspiration for the background for this card came from one of Lynda Hall’s samples using the Choose Calm Over Chaos stamps where she used the Art Sphere stencil as a parasol.
Tutorial
To make the umbrellas, I started by blending ink through the stencil, concentrating the ink in the centre and fading out so that there was no solid edge.
Using a black waterproof fine liner pen, I tried to harness some of Mark Alexander’s sketching skills and make the spheres into umbrellas! I’m not entirely sure it was successful but the next step would rectify that
To make the panel look more ‘rainy’, I spritzed some Stormy Sky Distress Stain over and also added some big drips. Once this was completely dry, I stamped the rain shower stamp repeatedly all over the panel with Versamark ink, added clear embossing powder and heat set it.
I stamped the girl in black ink, then stamped in Versamark and added clear embossing powder. After heat setting this, I repeated the Versamark and heat set again so that there was a lovely, solid glossy finish all over. I then fussy cut her out. The sentiment was silver heat-embossed on a circle of black card, with the edges finished by clear heat-embossing the rain shower.
Using a 5¾” circle die, I cut 2 white circles for the card base, scoring one about 1” from the edge and trimming a sliver off the bottom. This would be the back piece and the hinge above the score line was glued to the other white circle to make a circular card base.
I then die-cut the panel and a black circle using smaller circles and layered them onto the card base. The girl and sentiment were attached using this black foam tape.
