Nuts About Squirrels
It’s that time of year for muddy walks and brushing through those Autumn leaves. The cold breezy air and spotting the squirrels darting across the local green have inspired this week’s make. I’ve used the fabulous ‘Nuts About Squirrels’ stamp set alongside the matching dies and ‘Scripted Streets’ stamp set.
Tutorial
For the background, I used a Dina Wakley white tag dipped into ‘Peeled Paint’, ‘Walnut Stain’ and ‘Faded Jeans’ distress inks that had been sprayed with water.
I then edged the card with ‘Walnut Stain’ distress ink before sprinkling with more water.
Once dried, I stamped the ‘Scripted Streets’ all over the tag using Versafine Clair ‘Shady Lane’ green ink (2nd generation).
I do love a bit of glitz so I got rather inky spraying ‘Peeled Paint’ distress spritz spray all over the tag. It’s so shiny! The tag was then mounted onto some black card trimmed to fit the tag.
Next up, I stamped all the nature elements from the ‘Nuts About Squirrels’ stamp set with Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ before heat embossing with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. The elements were then die cut out and coloured in with colouring pencils (some will be saved for future projects). Ranger Glossy Accents were added to the acorns for dimension.
The sentiments from the same set were then stamped onto black card using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. These were then cut out and mounted onto some white card that had been edged with ‘Crushed Olive’ distress ink.
Finally, all the elements were glued to the background using 3D mounts or 3D glue before a piece of crochet lace and some water droplet gems were added.
I really enjoyed making this autumnal tag. Handmade tags are certainly a great way to brighten anyone’s day!
