Winter Birthday Card
A chilly, frosty morning inspired this weeks Design Team project and INTO THE WOODS is just the perfect stamp set to really draw you in and imagine a lovely wintry walk through the woods.
Tutorial
To begin I cut a piece of 300gsm smooth white card to approximately 7.5x19.5cm. I then created an inky background by spraying distress inks in tumbled glass and speckled egg directly onto the card. I sprayed a little water allowing the colours to merge a little and then dried using a heat tool. I repeated this until I was happy. Next I spattered a few drops of peacock feathers distress spritz and a few extra water drops. This gave a lovely shimmery textured background.
Once the background was completely dry I stamped the main images from INTO THE WOODS at the bottom of the card. I used Versafine Clair arctic for the background trees and twilight for the foreground trees.
Once the stamping was thoroughly dry I stamped the single tree using versamark and heat embossed using wow! Opaque bright white. I also added a little owl to the top of the white tree.
Next I added lots of white spatters using Dr Ph Martin bleed proof white and an old toothbrush. I recommend doing this in a spatter box as it can be extremely messy!
Once dry I mat and layered onto a shimmery navy card and attached to the front of a DL card blank.
At this stage I was planning on stamping the sentiment separately onto white card and attaching it to the front of the panel. However I changed my mind and decided to stamp and clear emboss straight onto the actual card. I chose a sentiment from BIRTHDAY WISHES and used versafine clair in twilight, embossing with wow! Clear embossing powder. Luckily it worked perfectly for me but I suggest you do this before you mat and layer as it’s much easier.
Finishing touches were a few small star sequins from my stash.
