Wedding Favour Pillow Box
If you’ve ever been to a wedding you may have taken home some wedding favours. Did you know that these little treats have historically been given to wedding guests to wish them good luck? As it’s winter wedding season, for my make this week I’ve made some wedding favour pillow boxes – perfect for those sugared almonds!
For my make I’ve used the amazing ‘Sketched Snowflakes’ and ‘Go To Christmas Words’ stamp sets.
Tutorial
First up, I took a ‘pillow box’ die from my crafty stash and die cut out 6 pillow box shapes. With this die you need 2 shapes to make 1 pillow box. Once cut out I creased the folds to make it easier to assemble later on.
Each pillow box was then shaded with some distress inks. For the winter theme I chose ‘Tumbled Glass’, ‘Salvaged Patina’ and ‘Peacock Feathers’. These were then splattered with some water droplets for added effect.
Elements from the ‘Sketched Snowflake’ stamp set were then stamped over the inked backgrounds. The large snowflake was stamped in Versamark before being heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. The smaller snowflakes were stamped with Versafine Clair ‘Bali Blue’ ink and Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink. Others were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Wow superfine metallic silver embossing powder.
Some ‘Peacock Feather’ distress spritz spray and white posca paint were then splattered over the stamping.
Next up, I stamped the medium sized snowflakes onto some hammered white card round die cuts using Versafine Clair ‘Bali Blue’ ink. ‘Tumbled Glass’ distress spray stain and the same distress spritz spray were then sprayed over the top of the snowflakes.
The sentiment from the ‘Go To Christmas Words’ was then stamped onto some white card using Versamark before being heat embossed with Wow superfine metallic silver embossing powder and fussy cut out. A hole punch was put into the round die cut and the sentiment layered onto the tag using 3D mounts.
Finally, I put the pillow boxes together using acrylic glue before adding some silver/white cord to help tie the tag onto the pillow box. Some wink of stella pen and some sparkly gems finished the wintry look.
I really enjoyed making these pillow boxes. If you don’t have a wedding to prepare for you could also use the boxes for little gifts or even to put an ATC in for your crafty friends this Christmas.
