Time To Party Card
Theres nothing quite like celebrating with family and friends and New Year is always a perfect time to get together with those important people in your life. Whether it be a small intimate gathering or something a bit more full on.
The BIRTHDAY BALLOONS die set, along with sentiments and stamps from BEST BIRTHDAY EVER and BIRTHDAY WISHES stamp sets give you the perfect tools to create party invites for all occasions. To find out how I made this little party invite please read on.
Tutorial
I first took two pieces of approx A6 (UK) 300gsm smooth white card. Pressing distress oxide lost shadow ink straight onto my craft mat I gave it a little spritz with water and tapped my cards repeatedly into it. I then dried using a heat tool. This was repeated several times using different shades of grey ink. I chose iced spruce along with phantom mist mica stain spray for added shimmer. Make sure you dry between each ink application to layer the inks and avoid them blending into a grey blob. I also added a few water splats and also dried these off.
Using the die set BIRTHDAY BALLOONS I cut out a selection of balloons from one of the pieces of inky card and numbers using some glitter card I had in my stash. I also die cut a set of numbers in black card too. I edged the balloons using a black sharpie. A little trick I’ve seen recently which makes your die cuts really stand out. The numbers, I stuck the glittery numerals slightly offset on top of the black ones to create a kind of shadow effect.
Next I trimmed my inky background panel to fit the front of an A6 (UK) card blank with enough room to add a border. I decided on the placement of the die cut balloons and numbers and then stamped black and clear heat embossed the “Time to Party” sentiment from BEST BIRTHDAY EVER.
I also stamped in opposite corners the little stars background stamp from BIRTHDAY WISHES in versamark and heat embossed using Wow! Polished silver. Along some of the edges I lightly swiped my versafine ink pad and sprinkled a little of the silver embossing powder before heat embossing. This just edged the panel really nicely.
I then assembled the card, mat & layering onto black and silver and adhering to the front of an A6 (UK) card. The balloons were attached to the front of the card using glue and foam pads, some flat and some raised to add dimension and interest. The numbers were then glued to the balloons. Finished touches were a few flat backed pearls in metallic shades of silver and grey.
I really love how this sparkly little party invite turned out. Using monochromatic colour tones really works. You could change the colour palette, the numbers, balloon arrangement to suit your occasion. 21st birthday, golden wedding anniversary. Whatever you decide, have fun!
