Phoenix Rising Card
It seems quite timely that this week our Design Team theme is ‘magical or mystical’. I love the myth of the Phoenix and what it means. To me a Phoenix symbolises ‘hope’ rising out of the ashes. Sending lots of love to those who need to find ‘hope’ today.
For this creation I’ve used the ‘Phoenix Rising’ stamp set and ‘Fibres’ stencil.
Tutorial

It’s been a while since I’ve done some ink blending. So I’ve returned to blending distress inks to create the card background.
First of all, I placed the ‘Fibres’ stencil over a 5x5 inch piece of white card and blended ‘Tumbled Glass’, ‘Salvaged Patina’, ‘Antique Linen’, ‘Saltwater Taffy’, and ‘Worn Lipstick’ through it. Once dried, a few drops of water, ‘Hickory Smoke’ distress spritz spray and Posca white paint splatters were added over the top.

I then went around the edge of the background with Versamark using one of the elements from the ‘Phoenix Rising’ stamp set before heat embossing with Wow superfine metallic silver embossing powder.

Next up, I stamped the main ‘Phoenix’ image onto another piece of white card using Versamark before heat embossing with Wow metallic silver superfine embossing powder. This was then fussy cut out and edged with ‘Salvaged Patina’, ‘Worn Lipstick’ and ‘Saltwater Taffy’ distress ink.

The sentiment was then stamped onto a small piece of black card using Versamark before being heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder.

This was mounted onto white card that had been edged with ‘Salvaged Patina’ distress ink.

Finally, the background was glued onto black card and a white card blank. The
‘Phoenix’ and sentiment were added to the background using 3D mounts before some sparkly gems were added. I really enjoyed making this card.
It’s perfect to send to a friend who may be going through a hard time or to keep as a reminder that there is always ‘hope’. Happy crafting everyone!
